The path climbs gently from the hotel through terraced apricot orchards before opening onto a bare ridge. On a clear morning the whole Rakhiot face is in front of you. Take water, take a jacket, and go early — the cloud usually builds after eleven.
Before you go
Carry more water than you think you need — the air is very dry.
Sun at altitude is fierce even when it is cold. Hat and sunscreen.
Layers. Mornings can be near freezing and afternoons warm.
Signal is patchy. Tell reception your plan before you leave.
Weather decides. We will tell you honestly the evening before if
conditions mean a trip is not worth doing. Nothing is charged if we call it off.
