The regional capital — airport, bazaar, and the Kargah Buddha carved into a cliff.
Gilgit is the administrative centre of the region and where most guests fly in. The bazaar is worth an hour, and the Kargah Buddha — a seventh-century figure carved high into a rock face about ten kilometres out of town — is worth rather more.
Forty-five minutes from the hotel. We run transfers to and from the airport.
